Please Note: Because of the lightweight materials, this greenhouse is not suitable for windy or exposed areas. In these circumstances we recommend a glass greenhouse which is heavier and will remain grounded. This greenhouse is also not supplied with a floor, so for greater stability it should be constructed on an appropriate concrete or slab base.

Description

There are few greater satisfactions than producing organic fruit and vegetables in your own back garden. Knowing this, Palram has designed a greenhouse with a modest width of six feet – ideal for the majority of domestic gardens – and a range of features to ensure temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse is kept on track.

This model, the 6x8 Mythos Grey, includes a structure with a grey finish for its aluminium frame and galvanised steel base. A grey finish contrasts the light and misty look of semi-transparent polycarbonate, and creates clean and precise lines throughout. Many find this shade looks appealing in a more contemporary or formal location, while others prefer the Mythos Green or Silver for their garden. 

Features

One of the unique features of the Mythos is its impressive twin-wall polycarbonate structure used in its walls and roof. The two layers of translucent polycarbonate provide impeccable shielding from the elements, producing a dependable buffer between the outdoors and the precious plants kept inside. Polycarbonate is already a fantastically strong material and difficult to break, but two layers greatly increase its overall strength. These panels also aim to diffuse sunlight, stopping vulnerable plants from being over-exposed to harsh sunlight in hotter months and creating a more consistent micro-climate throughout the interior.

Another feature of the 6x8 Mythos is its manually opened vent, located on a roof panel, which offers a handy way to let in fresh air when the greenhouse is overly humid or warm. This is especially welcome during lengthy potting sessions in the structure. On the other hand, a magnetic door catch is a neat solution for keeping the door closed when wanting to stabilise temperature and humidity levels. The ample height of the ridge (the tallest point of the apex roof) at 6'10'' is another design choice that ensures your comfort while walking around the greenhouse. Full ultra-violet protection offered by the polycarbonate panels is similarly appreciated. 

Those concerned about their greenhouse's security will be pleased to find they can easily lock their Mythos with the addition of a padlock (not included). To avoid wasting water, the Mythos comes with a guttering system already included, diverting any rainfall to the roof's eaves and making it straightforward to collect in water butts for later use when watering plants.

A greenhouse allows any avid gardener to be more attentive to their plants, by allowing them to alter the natural climate of their garden. But many of the accessories available with Palram greenhouses go a step further in giving you control over your growing environment.

A fantastic example of this is the Automatic Vent Opener, which requires no electricity or attention on your part to use. As the ambient temperature reaches around 12-15 degrees celsius, the vent will start to open and allow an increased airflow to the greenhouse's interior. A wax cylinder hidden within the part expands when heated, pushing a piston that opens the vent. The moment that chilly wind or rain hits, this wax will start to cool and contract, pulling the vent closed to ensure your greenhouse's interior remains dry.

The Shade Kit provides some relief from sunlight, reducing the likelihood of the hotspots that can be perilous to plants in summer. Those for whom efficiency is key will enjoy the time-saving potential of the Drip Irrigation Kit. This piece of gear is especially useful for plants that require daily watering to flourish. Use the kit to evenly distribute water to up to 16 areas of the greenhouses, with droppers that deliver a steady flow. If maximising the available space is your concern, consider adding the Two Tier Staging or Heavy Duty Shelf Kit to your order. The staging is a freestanding polycarbonate unit whose two shelves can cumulatively hold up to 200kg, whereas one Heavy Duty Shelf can support 40kg and is easily placed alongside others in a row thanks to its modular design. 

Additional Details

Assembling your Mythos greenhouse is made simple with clear instructions and panels that slot together once the aluminium frame is in place. Customers find it is best to put their greenhouse together with a friend, over the course of a day or across a weekend. While assembling, the owner can decide for themselves the direction they would like the single door to open, by choosing which side of the frame to fasten the door's hinges.

Delivery

ALL DELIVERIES ARE DELIVERED TO KERBSIDE OR DRIVEWAY.This product is delivered flat packed, direct to your home and is supplied with a set of instructions to support assembly.

If you have ordered more than one item, they may arrive at different times.

For customers in certain areas (e.g. Scotland and Wales) the timescale may be slightly extended. Please note lead times are counted in working days (Monday to Friday) excluding Bank Holidays.

About the Delivery

Towards the end of the timescale (please refer to the website for your chosen product?s lead time), you will receive notification by the courier that your order has been dispatched. Your order will be delivered by one of the following carriers (we are unable to supply information on which carrier is being used for your order): DX, Panther, DPD or Tuffnells.

If delivery is by DX, it is an all-day service (8am to 6pm), you will be contacted with a text message the working day before delivery confirming your delivery date.

If delivery is by Panther, you will receive a text message the working day before delivery with your delivery date and an estimated two-hour time slot.

If delivery is by DPD, delivery information may come by text or email the working day before delivery. On the day of delivery, you will also be contacted with an estimated one-hour delivery window.

If delivery is by Tuffnells, it is an all-day service (8am to 6pm), you will be contacted by email the working day before delivery.

Please note that both elbec and Palram will be unable to supply any further information on your order during this timescale.

Upon Delivery

Your order will be delivered kerbside or on your driveway. Due to health and safety, and insurance liabilities, the driver will not be able to take your goods to the back of your property but upon request may place the product at the side of the house if there are no access issues. This is to avoid risking damage to your property while delivering to an unsafe location. We will not be able to go through your property.

We recommend against arranging for a third party to install the product before its delivery and checking that all parts are present, and we cannot be held liable for any third-party costs caused by delays.
