The information on the site is great, better than is provided on others and much cheaper. Ordering was simple and the team arranging the delivery were incredibly helpful and pleasant. Arrived on the date given and assembled for us the same day with lovely workmen who cleaned up after and made sure it was in the right spot. The summerhouse itself is perfectly sized for us, enough room to comfortably fit a small table and 2 chairs, plus we have a small portable toilet in there and trunks to keep towels and dressing gowns in so we never need to drip water all over the house if we're having a few hours in the hot tub. It looks stunning now it's been painted. Couldn't be happier. "

"Overall the quality is very good. The service and delivery was top notch. The build and material quality is great. Construction is easy enough. I must however criticize the roof boards. The OSB should be thicker, even if this raises the price by £20. The supplied boards are far too thin. This necessitates a very small clout nail meaning that the felt detached in 4 days as there was not enough nail biting wood to prevent them pulling away in strong wind. I have bought 12mm clouts and these do the job, but burst through the ceiling. In this area it lets itself down. So Shire, please address this. Otherwise, full marks. "

"This potting shed is absolutely magnificent! Super-high quality - not just the wood itself, but even smaller details such as the top-to-bottom robust hinges on the door. I had a joiner assemble it - it took him and someone helping him half a day max to completely finish it. He was also very impressed with the quality! We bought some 2x3” posts on which to sit the shed (to raise it but also I wanted insulation underneath), some additional 4” screws (hardly used any), clear silicone for glazing the windows and timber for making additional shelves. But, really, this shed pretty much comes with everything you need and great instructions. Delivery also spot-on. I’m so impressed."

"Very happy with this Hampton corner summerhouse, we’ve had many happy times, used it all through lockdown, We have had our summerhouse since 30/06/2017 and this year maybe next it will need another coat of stain to spruce it up. Left out for four winters and will probably need to have new felt put on before this winter. Some nice little extra’s with house was a few spare panes of glass and two spare window latches..Overall no complaints, well made easy to put together, will definitely need two people due to the weight of the pieces."

"Purchased this summer house March 2021. From ordering to delivery it was easy . Polite staff provided us with a delivery date and it arrived bang on . The quality is good value for the cost of the summer house . We did choose to paint the summer house before assembly which we would highly recommend to preserve its life. We used Cuprinol which painted and covered well. Assembly is straight forward with easy to follow instructions we had all the components nothing was missing . We had toughened glass and opening windows as it can get rather warm inside . All in all we think it will be a well used extra room in the garden we are very pleased with the purchase . "

"Amazing Shed. Managed to build this shed pretty much by myself with a broken splinted finger in about 2-3 hours (includes my breaks due to WFH). Shed seemed really flimsy and parents were questioning it but once assembled and anchored down is really strong and secure.. Instructions were easy to ready and the whole setup was almost perfect. Only issue was the doors, was a bit difficult to line up but I think the closing issue stems from 4 round head bolts holding on the door frame instead of flat. would have been better. Delivery was early and delivered safely, driver even moved it to side of house. "

"when you first get this 6x8 shed in a moderately sized box you think surely not, you take out a few bits and start to think you've been royally had over for the price of it, albeit cheap from Elbec. so you start putting it together the extruded aluminium manufacturing is pretty good, and once you start sliding the extremely flimsy panels into the aluminium supports and start fixing it all together you slowly come round to realising its not to bad. I.E never have to paint or look after, as others have said read instructions over and over, it was breezy when I did it but needed only some help from partner. Doors are noisy obviously if left open and what I'm mostly worried about is if the side panels will rattle lots in moderate winds annoying the neighbours? as also said really disappointed with the base as its just polycarbonate on concreate so makes crunchy noises when walking over if it would have been a solid rubber base would have been so much better, plus it needs covering with rubber, carpet, wood, whatever to make walking on it safe. overall I'm still in two minds if i should have got wood for about same price, I'm lazy so in long run plastic probably better. obviously only being ally supports most people will be racking this out as you wouldn't/couldn't hang anything on the plastic or supports without a decent wooden subframe inside, which is cheap and easy to do. eventually sides may need siliconing up to remove rattling and after 1st rain pour i can confirm 99.9% water proof as some blew in where where side panel meets upturned base/floor, again some remedial strips of ally along the outside or whatever is at hand will finish off where it meets the ground. if I wasn't lazy for the upkeep of wood i'd buy a wooden shed, but being grey. maintenance free etc etc this isn't a bad spend, guessing it could be a lot cheaper though for what you get."

He didn’t follow the instructions as they weren’t easy. The Perspex cracked when installing and hoping to get a replacement. Not sure how they will last with the 1 and 3yo It looks fab painted and with fairy light I would share a photo but there isn’t an option "

"Advertised a 15 day lead time, but was surprised to get the shed in 2 days, I ended up waiting for the new patio to settle before I could set it up. The shed was easy to assemble, just wish the side panels by the door could be slotted like all the other panels, this made it a bit difficult to hold it together at this point. My bad for not checking but make sure you have the anchors to bolt this straight to the floor when completed, they are not provided. I am very happy with this shed it looks great, a few neighbours commented too, and the roof is amazing and gives a really good amount of light in the shed, which is one of the main reasons I wanted this shed."

Despite this delay I am pleased to report that I was regularly kept in the picture throughout the manufacturing process on until delivery. "My summerhouse was delivered on the date promised. It came on a small flatbed truck with only 1 person to deliver it. He was a pleasant person and did a good job. The base was damaged so he took photos and informed the office for me. I received a replacement about 10 days later. I think the replacement was slightly bigger than the original as it sticks out a little at one end. It was ok to build, definitely need help with it. Its not as strong as I thought it would be, reading the description but it looks lovely painted teal blue. "

Husband & son built it in a day- there was an issue but that was because the flooring wasn’t quite level - our fault nothing to do with the shed & once rectified everything was fine. Delivery - on the day that was arranged & received a call approx 30 mins before shed was delivered by a very pleasant & helpful delivery person (didn’t get his name unfortunately). I was a little concerned when I received them as a few had quite a significant amount of the blue/green staining on them, which I believe is caused by one of the preservatives injected into the wood. I did contact elbec about it and they were quick to respond and ask for pictures so they could forward them to their supplier. However, I decided to stop worrying about it and put them up anyway. I'm glad I did as a few weeks later the staining has disappeared. I wouldn't hesitate to buy their products again."

"Ordered the Shire 8x8 corner summerhouse in April 2020 and were given a 4 week delivery time which gave us plenty time to prepare the slab base. This was a task in itself during lockdown as open merchants were few and far between. Delivery came as promised on the day and was offloaded by a very courteous and polite driver leaving us to get on with the project. Took 2 full days to get it up and wind and watertight but the weather window was very kind with a warm dry spell for the whole week.Great quality materials, I elected to replace some of the facings with better timber but overall a high quality product. We love our new summerhouse and can highly recommend it to any prospective buyers thinking about using Elbec Garden Buildings or the Shire Barclay corner in particular. Oh,and buy the Protek exterior paint that is offered when buying your garden building, it's a good price and is a brilliant product."

"Arrived on time by a very delightful man. unloaded piece by piece and laid on the front lawn. Then he went on his merry way. Once transported round the back the work began. We noticed the base was bouncy so went and bought some timber to strengthen it some more which worked out fine the timber cost twenty quid. Erecting it took around 6 hours the instruction Manuel/sheets was a challenge to follow but we got there in the end. As this is a corner house I would recommend painting the back panels then moving into preferred place and not built in preferred place then moved for painting then moved back. ie: someone could be painting the back panels while the roof is being sorted with timber and felt. Also paint if that's your choosing before temptation wills you to remove the green protective covering on the windows and doors. Not saying you're going to turn dumb or anything its just suggestions lol. I have painted mine Cornflower Blue by Ronseal and Cottage Cream by Cuprinol and installed lighting. I'm really pleased with it. For the price you cannot grumble. Would recommend Shame I cannot add a pic"

"Arrived exactly on time (7am) as expected. Delivery driver (Ryan) very helpful and would not permit any assistance from me. Very good build quality and delighted with the end result. Self assembled by me and my wife and found the instructions were a bit vague - particularly about securing the window panels to the door frame. (Not as easy as it sounds). Suggest you use the shed boot kit (optional extra) even on a solid base and nail ALL of them down or they WILL fall off (I used 1" steel ovals). I painted the underside of the floor and the roof with fence paint to increase the waterproofing before assembly. All screws supplied loose in the same bag so be prepared to sort them by size before starting the build. Some of the trim battens were unusable due to severe warping but fortunately my local B&Q is in walking distance. Delighted with the end result, treat it like a 3D jigsaw and don't rush it. Be prepared to improvise sometimes. Overall, very pleased with the product and the company. A couple of very minor niggles, but recommended. IainG"

We assembled via the lengthy installation notes which proved tricky especially the roof and front doors but do able. Since construction I have been impressed how smart it looks and its bone dry inside. One improvement that could be the flooring as its very flimsy and can be a trip hazard, but I have put rubber matting over it and its fine now. So overall I would recommend this shed to anybody "

All the bits required and easy to read instructions although i highley recommend watching an install video (just google it there is a few) as it helped make the job a little easier. took me n the missis 6hrs on a fairly calm day (dont install in wind as the panels are very light until u get roof parts on).Few fiddly bits but went together well and looks absolutely fantastic. Well worth the money and time will last for years."

The structure although looks at 1st sight flimsy is both strong and durable when put together. It as a little tricky if like me not great at DIY, but is achievable with a bit of patience and time. Allow a day to put up! but once up, the design, quality and strangth is far superior to my wooden shed....so now I can sit back and enjoy my maintanance free shed for years to come....would definately recommend this product, but a little tip is rely on the instructions but also watch a viseo on youtube to assist"

One word of warning if using a wood sealer to protect the wood do not leave on windows as nothing seems to remove it except a razor blade scrapper. We have put duckpreservative on the outside looks very good. Made some shelves with the excess wood that was left. Put thick vinyl down on the floor so that no concerns over any water splashed out. Dehumidifier and airconditioun to keep moisture down. Brilliant"

"Great looking shed. Plastic is a lot thinner than expected but very strong. All parts labeled well,hubby didn't watch video he followed written instructions. It took us about 4 hours to build as lots of parts. Myself and hubby are both short (under 5ft5) so would suggest 3 normal height adults needed as found it difficult at times. Do not build in even a slight wind as panels blow about whilst trying to construct. 3rd person is ideal to hold other panels whilst building the shed. "

"Delivery was prompt and arrived within the time frame offered, although recieved no text/email on the day to say it was arriving. Luckily it’s lockdown so I was in. Shed is perfect what I need. Using in an alcove in the garden to store huge rattan sofa cushions and the kids toys. Stuff I need easy access too. I bought this as it requires no maintenance and no painting which is great considering you can only see the front of it where I’ve placed it. Other half put it up with his dad, said it was a pain. No heavy lifting to do but fiddly. It seems very flimsy and I have to lift the door up half an inch to reach the lock - probably because it’s on limestone pavers which aren’t entirely level. Does the job for what I need it for though. If you want a shed to store lots of heavy garden equipment that would be leant or hung up, then I’d advise getting a wooden shed instead. Only had a couple of weeks but seems water tight so far. "

It’s rigidity comes when you start assembling the roof and increases as you progress. We found assembling the roof struts first then lifting onto the shed far easier than the guide suggested. Certainly pleased with the finished item. I just need several shelves now!!"

"Palram Plastic Shed Recently purchased a Palram 6x4 Garden Shed from Ebec and am very pleased with the purchase and product. It was kind of fun to put up with VERY EASY to understand instructions. (Much better then IKEA) You do need two people to put it together, not because of the weight but you need one to hold panels straight while the other person screws or bolt things into place. I do have one suggestion though - if like me you are going to put the shed in a corner or against a fence better construct it in an open space where you can get to all 4 sides, then just lift and carry it into the place you eventually want to put it. Very easy to lift and transport and then bolt to the ground once you are happy with the position you want it."

"A stylish shed which when it comes seems flimsy but when assembled is quite Saturday. All the pieces are well engineered and fit without the need for adjustments. The skylight roof appears solid on the outside but inside it throws out sufficient light not to need an internal light. Once you open the box do not be put off by the amount of parts, once you get going it all becomes apparent and if you get stuck just take a step back reread the instructions and all will become apparent. "let down by missing screws The delivery time of the plastic shed was acceptable considering the issues caused by Corona virus. Husband managed to erect the shed on his own with just a bit of help from myself holding panels together while he screwed. The shed is a bit flimsy but adequate for our needs and looks good from the outside. I would have scored an extra star but there are some screws missing and we are concerned that should we get windy weather the shed could blow down and possibly blow away. I have emailed elbec several times and phoned them but no sign of the screws. I was told they were despatched 6 days ago. I appreciate corona virus is causing issues but I am only waiting for 10 screws that could be sent in normal post Hi Susan Thank you for your feedback. They kept me up to date with the progress of my order and, although delivery was initially delayed due to them not having a delivery firm in my area, once they had instructed a new company the delivery was made ahead of schedule. I am impressed that they let me know that they were looking to engage a new delivery firm, from my experience, most companies just don’t say anything and wait for the customer to ask where their goods are. "the shed arrived by surprise as no delivery e mail was sent but with the present emergency was not a problem as at home. arrived in a little over a week. first job was read the instructions 3 times then count the parts. all items are identified by label or number stamped on part, very good. I had already demolished the previous wreck of a shed so had a level concrete base. easy to read illustrated and numbered progress, shed panels flexible and easy to assemble into the aluminium frame, construction method using captive head bolts excellent and assisted by my wife we assembled the shed easily. we had 2 difficulties, the shed was constructed in situ a 1.4M wide alley alongside the house with a fence on the opposite side. also I wanted the pent roof to fall in the opposite direction to the illustrated instructions but the rear corner upright which is taller than the other rear corner acted as a point of reference and we soon became orientated. quick to build, wobbles a lot as you construct but with the main walls up and nuts tightened it became more rigid. Do not worry once the roof was on and the ground bolts in place everything was good and rigid. love the skylight roof (due to location of shed we could not have a window that would let light in!) good light inside I was relieved. Full width door gives easy access for the lawn mower, good value shed!"

The instructions aren't always clear enough, but aside from the odd scratch of the head are fairly straightforward. The panels do feel a bit flimsy and even when assembled, leave me wondering just how much force it would take to break into them. That being said, it is a good looking shed and a bargain at the price I paid. One other word of advice that I am going to repeat from the manual - you do really need to have a firm, flat base on which to assemble. Any deviation will adversely affect assembly and stability."

"Palram 6x5 shed. I recently purchased this shed to replace a old larch lap one that had warped and rotted. 10 days after my order the shed was delivered. The filling day I demolished the old shed and then started building the Palram replacement. It was a joy to put together! I’m no DIY expert and I found the instructions clear and the parts fitted together very well. It helped to have a small Bosch IXO screwdriver. Most of the build can be done by yourself, with your assistant only required to help when slotting the sides into place. It was completed over 2 days, around 8 hours and several coffee breaks. A great product at a great price. Now my neighbour looking to replace his shed too. I never expected she’d envy, Elbec Customer Services very helpful too. Thanks Marilyn."

It took 11 hours to erect with the most vague instructions even those parts that are numbered don’t always correspond to the pictures on the instructions, poor quality, and this was near impossible with just two people. There was also a very slight breeze which made it even harder as the panels would constantly blow around, you are always in fear of the panels snapping until you have the main struts in! However It is spacious and neat, but we will see how it fairs in the winter months. Not recommended."

Good instructions – assembles in a logical fashion 2. No missing parts 3. Everything went together easily 4. "Palram 6 x 4 Skylight Pent Shed Ordered from Elbec amidst the corvid-19 crisis after searching for alternatives across the internet. Product delivered within a few days although (understandably) no prior notification of delivery was received. As we had already constructed a sturdy wooden base, level & plumb, we were able to assemble pretty much straight away. All of the parts were clearly labelled and referenced on the appropriate page of the instructions. The instructions were clear and adequate for the job although quite a thick bundle as a result. Two comments around these - 1) the icon for a powered screwdriver is confusing and not sure that one is necessary; 2) a decorator's platform (if you have one) is more useful than step ladders. The actual shed goes together well and is a triumph of design. Other than one panel which became dislodged during assembly - causing the roof panels to be misaligned (but easily found and rectified) - we had no trouble from start to finish. The finished product benefits from the aluminium frame lending strength and accuracy of alignment. We secured the base to the wooden staging and will be further securing it to a pair of existing 100mm fence posts as it is situated in an exposed position - and it does get windy. We chose the grey option and this sits well in our garden even against the dark oak fence panels. Only time will tell how it fares against a true Yorkshire winter but given the design, and experience of assembling it, I don't have any undue worries."

"Pros - The skylight roof is amazing - it lets in much more light than the glass windows in the side of a wooden shed. The shiny finish inside is nice, and from the outside the shed looks very smart. Overall, the build was fairly straightforward, and most of the instructions were clear and simple. Cons - Some of the instructions only make sense once you’ve made a mistake and re-read them with the benefit of hindsight. The three sections of the floor do not click together or seal, so there are gaps to trip over or loose small items into. (I’ll be laying a rubber floor covering to resolve this). Overall - It’s a good shed, but you really do need to take the time to study the instructions, and make sure your base is perfectly flat and level. Also, a socket wrench will make things a lot easier than using a spanner! "

So much easier than my friends recent experience having to put together every single tongue and grove panel. Comes in pre built panels with clear instructions (obviously made for a woman to project manage, haha) and loads of screws and nails. This would have been totally straight forward but we required a few minor alterations to fit with our garden. End result is fabulous. "The amount of room inside the shed is amazing. I am using it to house among other things a full size table tennis table. Made a lif tup flap above the doors for this purpose. I have re-inforced the floor at the point where the two sections join, and added extra support bars to the roof as these were inadequate. A couple of my wooden bars were cracked, however for the price I feel this is good value for money.I heve painted it 2 tones of blue and it is a feature in the garden."

"This shed was of better quality than expected for the price. The roof was also a lot heavier than expected and took some effort and cursing to hold in place while being nailed. There was nothing hard about the build and nothing wrong that a reasonable DIY er couldn't sort out. Had to add some thick timbers both sides of door frame to straighten it and because the security hinges were larger than the frame and I had to add a couple of bits to the door itself. If you are going to treat I would suggest doing every bit before assembly. I waterproofed with Ducksback and did the first coat with the panels upside down to get some right into and under the overlap. Every pin hole and crack was siliconed filled and coated. Now every panel is pressure washer watertight and overall I am very pleased with this bargain shed. "

The manufacturer has responded in [red] and elbec have responded in {blue} in order of the points raised.

Delivered to schedule and the timber seemed reasonably good quality; UNTIL, we discover the glass is missing. Driver phones customer services. Tells us it will probably be couriered down next day. The panels have bottom bock protectors but not at the corners. No matter how carefully we unload, the panels will often land on a corner.

[Transport blocks are added to the bottom of the panels in allocated areas to fully support the panels and to enable the panels to be finally nailed at the bottom]

Unlike my existing shed, the bottom T*G panels are NOT planed to a solid square edge so several of the T&G grooves are split. Common sense would say affix the temporary protectors wit easily removable screws.NO. they are nailed on so you have to start hammering your new product. PITY.

[– We use nails in our production and owing to the nature and scale of production the transport blocks are nailed to the base of the panels for continuity. The blocks are easy to remove by tapping with a hammer without any damage to the item. Owing to the product being of natural timber there is some variance and natural splits but should not affect the item, however any concerns if reported can be replaced to rectify.]

The 2 base panels are put together and there is a 1inch gap in the floor. Its tempting to cut the bearers shorter, BUT DONT. you need the floor width to match the breadth of the side panels. So now you have to boy a timer filling piece.

[– This gap should not be present if the 2 floor panels are fitted in the correct manner with no need to trim the bearers. If fitted with bearers to bearers there will be a gap but the two floor panels should be fitted in the opposite way of which will see no gap in the centre and no need to trim the bearers as these will be covered by the wall panels sitting on the base.]

Now we start to notice some nails in the base and roof panels miss the bearers; so we have to extract these and reposition them. We notice that some T&G strips on a side panel and a roof panel are missing nails so they have distorted and warping outwards. need several screws to pull them back to straight.

[– On some rare occasions a few nails could be missed from the panels but this is not detrimental to the items integrity. We would of course have been happy to replace said panels if notified.],

The window opening detail cold also be better. this has the nose of a T&G panels at the base and forms a natural trap for rainwater to funnel in the gap between. OK if you never forget to leave a window slightly open in showers

[ – We have sold 1000’s of this item and have never had such concerns over the window detail. If the window is left open there will be the risk of the rain water funnelling into any gaps around the open window]

Time to put the roof on- BUT - you locate the rook bearers in the slots of the gable ends. WHOOPS - the factory forgot to create the slots so its extra DIY time and problem to work out for yourself.

[– These slots are left for the customer to easily notched out. This is part of the design as any slight variation in the base of construction would then affected the bearers final positioning and as such, achieving such accuracy with this slot would not be possible with some many factors on site regarding the assembly could affect this.]

The optional roof tiles are quite good quality; I chose green. Unfortunately you get a kind of green christmass glitter sprinkled over black tiles. look nice when finished but I doubt it will be long before the sprinkles are blown away.

[– It is with regret that the colour of the roof tiles did not meet with the customer’s satisfaction.]

The elbec instructions will tell you to fit a row of 4 clout nails per panel. Funny, the instruction in the packaging from the French tile supplier show 2 rows. GUESS WHAT - you only have half the nails needed.

[-The manufacturer do advise only 2 rows but we advise 4 rows for security and there should have been ample nails supplied by us for fitting and we would have sent further if notified.]

Well the weather is about to change, the winds are goig to rise and showers will blow through the sides. And guess what; customer services inform us they will deliver the glass a week later when they happen to be making a deliver to Cornwall. Can you expedite I ask. ELBEC/SHIRE are not interested. But the driver stated you courier glass down. NO THEY DONT. The drievr has given you a pack of lies so he can make a quick departure leaving you with an incomplete shed. So I obyain the glass spec. I research local glaziers and find one that will make the 104 glass panels in under 24 hours at £90. ELBEC?SHIRE are not interested. Wellits take s a lot of had fought calls to get acceptance that this is a pro active, cost effective, time responsive solution. I offer to use my transport to collect and deliver taking all risk of transit damage. GUESS WHAT. 1 week later a pile of glass is dumped (dropped!) on my doorstep. The package damage is unbelievable and has several broken panels. Glad I never accepted this option but the forgot to cancel the delivery. A few days later the pick the mess up; or so I thought. The we took the dog out for a walk and he puts his paw on a chard of glass left by the doorstep. Thanks ELBEC/SHIRE for leaving my property safe and tidy - NOT.rnI have raised a complaint that was to be investigated. NO RESPONSE. Put the3 glass in but you only get have the panel pin nails you need.rnSUMMARY- the timber quality if fairly good but coupled with a large number of fine construction details that need improvement, manufacturing errors and poor customer service if you have a problem ; I WOULD NOT USE ELBEC/SHIRE AGAIN. =================================================================

It is unfortunate that you were given the incorrect information by the driver, however although we realise the driver is the face of elbec, unfortunately we can’t say with any degree of certainty whether the information given to you was or was not in good faith. I’m sorry it came across as the latter. Our agreement when an order is placed is for the customer to report to elbec any issues that may arise, which we are obliged to rectify within a reasonable time, and we do.

It is unfair to say elbec are uninterested in customer service. Both elbec and our manufacturers invest significantly year on year to maintain and improve service levels. Elbec will never leave anyone high and dry. Our reputation is too precious for that in an age where social media is often used as a vehicle for disgruntled customers. Sometimes we don’t get it right, however we listen to customers and improve where we can such as the speed and reliability in which we can deliver from production to the end user which improves year on year.

It should be noted the logistics involved are colossal. Our manufacturers between them are moving tens of thousands of units a year without issue and always strive to meet all customer’s expectations and all at the very best competitive pricing.

We are sorry we didn’t get the service right for you and understand the frustration when it affects plans that have been made. I can assure you we are frustrated too when a customer reports that they have been let down. We wear our heart on our sleeve and treat every complaint very seriously and where service does fall down, it is investigated and appropriate action taken to fix it.

"Full marks to Elbec and their delivery team for customer service - everything happened exactly as promised despite the fact that I had to alter the delivery date. The shed is now erected and looks very smart in my new garden. However, buyers should be aware that the Solid Sheet Board for the roof and the floor are only 8mm and 10mm respectively, which is probably too thin for the size of shed. The roof has a sag in it and it has been necessary to insert additional support, and the floor could do with additional support either by attaching additional battens prior to erection of the shed, or by overboarding the floor with a more rigid form of board after completion. However, overall I think this is good value for money."

"We ordered a 10'x8' summerhouse from Elbec Garden Buildings because their list price was £200 cheaper for a Shire building than other suppliers. They kept me informed right up to the delivery, which was well within the informed time slot. I'm glad that I elected to assemble the building myself because it meant that I could treat the timber with wood preservative. It took more than 20 litres. The quality of the wood finish is pretty rough in quite a few places. This maybe ok for a garden shed but not a summerhouse. So quite a bit of 'fettling' was needed to remove these rough edges. The window beads were even worse, but because they give you plenty of spares you can select enough to do the job. Apart from these few negatives, the summerhouse is a resounding success and we are really glad we bought it."

"Recent Delivery: 2 x sheds (T&G) 1 x log cabin (44mm logs) After placing the order I read a few negative reviews. I should not have worried Elbec provided really useful guidance when placing my order. I received a telephone call confirming date of delivery and orders were delivered on the requisite date. The transport used for the delivery were very helpful, one small pane of glass broken but overall no issues (Elbec stated they would replace same but I decided not to take up this offer). Quality; for what I paid very happy, definitely value for money - In the past this has been seriously lacking from other suppliers and I suppose the biggest credit I can give them is to recommend them to others."

" Excellent build........... Successful DIY project.: I bought Shire Dalby 34mm log cabin for my small rear garden by end of summer time. Everything from placing an order to delivery of log cabin was perfect without any hitch. Best quality wood logs are supplied. It is thoughtful of the company to supply extra 1 each size log in case of any damages during assembly. I would like to suggest 2 minor things to design & production department are that to provide more large,clear and detailed assembly plans/instructions and be exact with measurements during cutting of grooves into the logs. I had couple of slight off set logs which I managed to aligned them correctly due to engineering knowledge I have but otherwise could be problems for others. Design and quality of materials are good and recommendable. It took me 3 weeks to treat the wood with preservative and only 4 days to assemble perfectly as professional completion. Finished product looks very attractive. Without any doubts,I would highly recommend this company & deal again if in need in future."

"Good quality and value for money: I selected a dutch barn for extra head height. From experience with sheds, the better the base, the easier the build. Instructions were OK but one did puzzle over whether or not to follow them to the letter. One tip the delivery driver gave me was to paint before putting the barn up - well worth it if one wall is close to a fence. I had help putting the thing up: it is definitely not a one man job. Putting it up was not like putting up a flat pack wardrobe: the fit of panels is not perfect and, particularly with the roof, some cutting and adjustment was need to get a good fit. Doors have been a problem. They were a perfect fit initially in dry weather but expanded in the autumn rain. Even after trimming and refitting, they have expanded again and are held shut by a plant pot. Fitting the lock was a nightmare. It just did not fit the pre-drilled holes. Nonetheless it's a good barn, much sturdier than others I have seen. And yes, I would by another product from this company. D. Atkins"

"Good Quality, Good Price: Bought my 9' x 6' Goodwood Norfolk Professional Pent Shed (Tongue and Groove) in September 2014. Courteous and helpful delivery driver. Shed sections were all well protected and made handling easy. Easy to erect (with assistance from my wife) and everything fitted perfectly, although the erection leaflet stated that some trimming may be required. I painted the sections with two coats of wood treatment prior to erection and one coat after. Looks good."

"Good Value for Price Paid: Compared generally with other suppliers on-line, and particularly the DIY chains, Shire sheds from Elbec are about the best. Moreover, Elbec's website give much more information than most others, which gives any buyer confidence. I paid extra for Top Coat Treatment, and would recommend this option - particularly if the intended site is against a boundary, making access difficult. The shed's instructions could do with improvement though. Whilst many photos are given, some would be better as diagrams (which is why I knocked a star off). Also, as the floor is tongue and grooved, make sure that the entrance doesn't have the grooves (the tongues have been removed the other end) as this reduces strength. I bought another couple of battens from our local timber yard to place under the door way for even more strength. Lastly, I departed from the instructions by setting the windows in using clear silicone sealant, not the panel pins provided. Much quicker and neater in my opinion."

"Strong , heavy duty & substantial: Overall this arbour is a very strong and substantial product. It is slightly disappointing that it is a bit on the small side - it could have been another 150-200 mm larger in both directions. The instructions were fairly easy to follow bot there is one very basic error - DO NOT PRE-DRILL WITH 6mm HOLES . THE DRILL SIZE SHOULD BE 4mm FOR THE 60mm SCREWS AND 3mm FOR THE 50mm SCREWS. OTHERWISE THE SCREWS WILL NOT BITE PROPERLY ! Also, as in a previous review, the roof is very difficult to fit and there is too much space where the roof joins the bearers. I finished mine off with some 16mm quadrant beading which also gives it a pleasing appearance. Finally, some of the wood was not of the high quality expected - even 3 of the corner posts had splits in them. If the makers addressed the above issues this product would then be first class. "

"An Excellent Product: .I bought a 5m x 3m (approx) Clipstone 18 months ago now. After it was delivered it rained solidly for 3 weeks and you have never seen so much timber covered in tarpaulin. It covered my garden so make sure that you have plenty of storage space as it is necessary to move around the pile and also to maintain access to other parts of the site. What I did not do but was told to do in the instructions was check the complete inventory of materials before starting work. Very important to do this as it caused me problems later as there was shortfall in some timber sections. Having said that though the missing parts were soon dispatched and Adam I think it was, was very truly helpful in this and in answering my cries for help as the work progressed. I built my cabin on a concrete base so no problems there and I took the advice to lay strips of plastic damp proof course under each floor joist. Good advice! The construction is a two man job to complete the walls. I did the roofing on my own much to my surprise. The work overall took longer than indicated. Perhaps because I am getting on a bit but was straightforward and rewarding as each log slotted perfectly in to the next. I built the door and window frames first inside our conservatory. Picking dry days I made sure that they were well treated with a spirit based preservative that really soaked in well. Because of the size of the cabin the roof slope is shallow angle and I was advised to increase the overlap of the felt. This led to a shortfall in the inventory but again was rectified although I wish that I had sussed this out earlier along with the other missing bits as delays are frustrating as you are hurrying to beat the onset of winter. The finished cabin looks a teat! Using a spirit based preservative is rewarding as the stain actually penetrates the wood thickness in places so you know it is doing it's its job well. One of the early recommendations I had from the staff at Elbec was to consider an upgrade to 34mm logs. It was excellent value I thought and I was well pleased that I made that decision. It certainly added to the overall quality. After two winters and more rain than we could wish for everything is still perfect. Doors and windows open and close smoothly and no signs of water ingress anywhere. An excellent product from an excellent company but please make sure you read the instructions first! "

The shed was delivered on time and to my door. The driver was OK and delivered to my kerbside but no more. All the pieces are light enough for 1 person to move. The shed kit was all there to the last nail, the instructions were OK but the job looked quite intimidating. It was not!! With the help of my wife the structure was up in 2 days and the detail finished in another 2. After a coat of preservative it now looks great. Time will tell re how long lived it is. Only complaint is that the felt nails are not long enough - they should be 8 - 10mm not the 5mm supplied. I went out and bought a pack. Otherwise a good product supplied by efficient people and organise well be Elbec. Definately recommended. Mr Metcalf"

"Now the proud owner of a super log cabin!: From my first enquiry to the delivery, my dealings with Elbec have been a pleasure. We were kept informed of progress regularly and delivery was prompt and on time. I must admit that it was a little daunting looking at the vast mound of timber, but taking time to sort through the various lengths and parts paid off. I would stress the importance of making slow, deliberate and steady progress during installation, especially ensuring that the first logs are perfectly square as this makes things a lot easier when it comes to the roof installation! There were so many spare parts (luckily), as we put a window base part in at the wrong height and didn't realise until we were at the top of the first window height!! If there had not been a spare end log that we could adapt, we would have had to disassemble two thirds of the cabin to rectify the problem. Hence my advice to proceed slowly checking as you go!! After not too long the end product is a site to behold! An excellent, sturdy, well constructed cabin which, if looked after, should provide us with years of pleasure. One more thing, I employed a professional roofer to put an insulated asphalt roof on. It was another outlay but should profit us in the long run with greater thermal insulation. Looks good too!! So, overall, we are overjoyed with the final result. Thanks Elbec. Mr Arnold"

"Highly recommend: A very easy to navigate website led to my purchase of the Elbec corner summerhouse. Communication was excellent, rfom confirmation through to delivery. I liked that I was in change of the delivery times using their booking website but I was a bit disappointed that deliveries only seemed to be available on Mondays or Fridays, I therefore had to book a day off work to receive the item. The delivery driver was very helpful despite the pouring rain and he did his best to protect the product from the rain with some plastic sheeting. Assembly of the summerhouse was fairly straight forward, we did buy some extra screws thgouh as we used more than the instructions recommended to give a bit more stability. Now it is assembled and painted in heritage sage green with cream it looks very expensive and inviting. I can't wait to get the interior finished and ready for next spring :-) Mrs Pearson"

"This is a great log cabin: ordered a Solway log cabin in 44 mm wide logs at the beginning of August and was given a delivery date towards the end of the month with a time window. The cabin was delivered on the agreed day, just before 10.00 am. It was all well packaged on a pallet, but due to limited access into my drive, the lorry driver manually offloaded it onto my property. I've been very impressed by the quality of the wood and the machining, which has made it a joy to assemble and, quite frankly, it looks great. The doors, windows and their fittings are also of good quality. This is one of my best buys and is fantastic value for money. Keith Rayner"

"Good quality, mostly sturdy shed: I bought this in late 2011 and put up the main structure then. It's easy to put together, and I like the attention to detail with the cover strips etc. The instructions for the main build are straightforward, although in very small print. I'm adding the cover strips etc now, though the instructions I have jump from Section E to K, and I'm left with a few bits of wood and no idea what to do with them.. The only faults are: a) The floor is not sufficiently supported at the entrance. It goes bouncy very quickly and could do with more bearers to brace the floor on the triangular section directly by the doors. I am having to buy & fit a second floor to try and brace it as once it's up it's too late! You can't lift it to put something underneath... b) the wood seems quite new and is still leaking sap/resin c) possibly because it's newish wood, the wood shrinks in the first year, and you will get a few gaps, particularly in the joins between panels."

"Great value sturdy shed: The shed comprised a lot more pieces than I expected, but the instructions were relatively easy to follow, although difficult to read due to poor printing - I too requested the pdf which was much clearer. This was emailed to me very quickly - thanks customer service department! I managed to paint all the panels and strips that would be exposed, before assembling - this meant it was fully weatherproof once erected. Also, painting the window frames and beading before fitting the glass meant no masking needed to keep the glass free of paint. I used 40mm screws instead of the nails in the floor and wall-strips - much better, especially with the springy wall strips. Only negative point - the 0.8mm roofing nails were OK on single thickness felt, but would not stay in on the areas where 2 strips of felt overlap - I got some 13mm felt nails from screwfix and they did the job! Overall, I'm delighted with my purchase."

However it took us days to build as the instructions are horrendous and lend themselves to mistakes being made (things being built in the wrong order etc). I wouldn't let this put you off as it is by far one of the nicest compact greenhouses I have seen. I would definitely recommend spending money on the toughened safety glass which makes the build feel a bit easier and 'safer'. "good work guys: Review of log cabin. Ordered a 12ft x 12ft shire Marlborough log cabin after doing a lot of research on the Internet , I also had a garden shed from Elbec 8 years ago and was pleased with the product. The ordering process was simple , the delivery came on the named day , the driver was brilliant , polite and with his hi-ab put the cabin pallet exactly where instructed , he also offered some usefull tips on assembly ! The cabin came shrunk wrapped on a pallet protesting it from the wet weather . The cabin base was concrete . Myself and two friends stared at 8am and by 5 pm the cabin was up , roof on but not felted , the floor was down the windows were in altough not glaze , assembly was straight forward , it's worth studying instructions prior to starting work though . All logs are coded for easy assembly , there are also spare logs , floor boards and roof board in case any are damaged ! As none of the wood was damaged there was enough spare logs to make a pergola next to the cabin , Bonus eh ! Finishing the cabin ie felting glazing wood preserving and electrics took me another two days on my own ! The result is fantastic , a play room for my beloved grand daughter and she loves it ! In my experience I would certainly recommend both Elbec and shire cabins , good work guys !"

"Great Value: From ordering this to delivery was very easy. I requested the driver call me 30 minutes before delivery, which he did.
I was a bit hesitant about the B Grade, but there are just a couple of little dents and scratches, which hardly show.
Once the shed was assembled (that's another story) it is rigid and strong. I hope the 10 year warranty against rust is valid as we live a stones throw from the sea, which rusts everything.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the assembly! It took my husband and his friend, who are both very competent DIY enthusiastics 7 hours to assemble!
Well worth the money (once it's assembled!!)"

"Great Cabin: Just finished putting my 10' x 8' shire up. All has gone well. Good customer service, helpful delivery man, east enough to construct and looks the business. Went for the 34mm upgrade, which I think is worth it. Value wise, I think it is pretty good, not cheap, but you get what you pay for. PROS : Very good service, really nice windows and doors, good quality locks and fittings, nice draught seal system, enjoyable to construct CONS : putting the preserver on and painting it takes ages, some of the wood is a bit rough at the ends, although nothing a bit of sanding can't put right. All in all appositive experience - would I recommend, YES - well done Elbec."

"Speedy service, nice quality product, but ...: We found this lovely seat via Google Search Engine which took us to the Elbec website. This is the best price we've seen this product. However, we ordered it earlier than we needed it back in March because the website said that the offer was ending 16th March. We feel we were mislead by that as the seat has remained at the lower sale price ever since (some two month's later!!!). So we've had to store the seat until this weekend when we were ready to build it. The seat is good quality and sturdy. The instructions look very simple we worked out what needed to be fitted where. There seems to be four bolts now supplied instead of 8 screws for the seat, which makes for a stronger fitting, however they are not mentioned in the instructions. We met our first problem with the double notched trellis as we it doesn't say which way round it should be fitted. We tried calling the Technical Helpline provided on the fitting instructions, to find that this is no longer in service. We pondered over this for a further 45 minutes before working out which way round it went. It took us most of the day to erect, put into place and level. We then discovered that one of the trellis ends we'd put the wrong way round, (ie., from a matching perspective with the other pieces of trellis, so the slats at the same way - horizontals inside), would have been better if the instructions advised which way round to fit trellis. It was fairly easy swap it round even though it was built. It probably could have stayed as it was, but we perfectionists and want it to look right! In summary, a nice piece of garden furniture, service excellent, misleading offer re price, requires better instructions, might be useful to have a video clip on website of how to build."

"Good product shame about the roof: This is a really nice looking arbour seat and the materials are substantial. You will need to drill pilot holes in the timber to assemble the arbour. It is a 2 man job to manoeuvre the 2 sides together and also to put the roof structure on. Unless you are Geoff Capes, don't try lifting the roof on your own. My advice is to spend a couple of days treating the individual parts with a goood quality wood preserver before assembly. One word of caution though, the image used for advertising shows the roof panels cut in to the roof bearers, don't be fooled - in reality they are cut square, so you WILL have gaps that need a bead of sealant run into them. I am going to bed some wooden beading in the gaps in mine and paint to match the roof. Overall a very good product."

"Top Quality for the price.: bought this item as a workshop/store. I am 6'3'' and I can stand up inside ok. The instructions could be a lot better with more close-up pictures or more detailed pictures online. I paid the sale price which made it good value but I would not have paid the list price. After seeing the locks etc provided I went to B & Q and bought much heavier ones. The goods were delivered on time but the floor was damaged and I had to do some major repairs to one section but as I was in a rush it was faster for me to repair rather than complain.The floor is a bit to thin if you are not building directly onto a concrete base.I built mine with a deck at the front and one of my kids wanted to move in as it looks more like a little house."

"A very good choice in sheds/workshops: We were very impressed with all aspects of dealing with Elbec, including calling them for advice, placing the order and discussing delivery updates, which were made regularly. The deliverery of our workshop was on time and well executed, even allowing for a broken tail lift on the wagon which meant the delivery men had to offload the parts one at a time, stacking them carefully. As I was prepared with a good flat base (ESSENTIAL!!!) We spent a cople of days painting everything again. In retrospect, the pressure treatment would have been a very good option, but hindsight etc... Putting the unit up was easy. It took a day to erect, and half a day to roof and fit doors /glazing etc. Would we want any changes? Just a couple. The instruction sheet needs to be on two sheets at a larger scale. The pictures are great, but a bit small. Also, I would rather have paid a few pounds more to have a better quality hasp and bolts. Otherwise it was a very good experience."

A nice design and relatively easy to assemble, however the photos in the instructions were less than clear. The top of the rear panels needed to be planed down to an angle to conform to the roof slope in order for the roof panel to sit correctly. The small bolts supplied for the doors are unsuitable for the design and cannot be used effectively, a better solution is needed for that. All in all a very good purchase, with some clever extra designing of the internal space, a lot more could be fitted into it"

"Interesting: There are a number of reviews of the Pixie playhouse on the internet varying from the positive to the down right negative. I did a lot of research on playhouse before buying and to be honest they are all pretty mush the same.I hope this will be a balanced review. Positives Value for money - if you buy it from this site it is about £50-£60 cheaper than anywhere else. For the money I doubt that, even if you had the skills or inclination, you could build it for less than this. Shire were pleasant to deal with. They phoned to thank me for buying the playhouse and to arrange a suitable delivery time - well within the 10 days specified. Once painted and buildt - it looks lovely - very spacicious and should last your child many years. Negatives The build instructions are hopeless! Too small to read, confusing and at some points completely out of date. You can download a PDF from another website which helps as you can enlarge it. My partner and his dad pretty much ignored the instructions and built it using common sense. The build quality is a bit shoddy in places. There is a bit of sanding to do - but nothing arduous. Some of the nails used to hold panels together miss there mark but you can easily tap them out with a hammer and reposition them. Again even a more expensive playhouse probably wont be built that well. Time - It took two blokes a full long day to build the playhouse and get it watertight. Summary Good value playhouse but may need assistance figuring out th einstructions"

"Shire Lundy 9' x 6' shed: ELBEC are a very good company to deal with but unfortunately Shire the manufacturers of the shed let the side down with incorrect instructions leading to a shortage of roofing felt to complete the job and then failed to return calls or send additional felt until ELBEC intervened.
The shed itself is a well engineered garden building but you need to be aware that it is not a case of just banging up four walls and a roof. To treat the shed sections before erection as per the manufacturers instructions and then to erect it takes the best part of a week for one person but the beauty of the modular construction means that it is easily handled so sections could be treated under cover."
