Description

The 13 x 7 Jersey Shed from Shire is one of the most popular, large sheds sold in the UK today. It sells in its hundreds year after year and is available at a price that is hard to beat for a shed of this size. But it is not just size you are getting with the Jersey. Features

The Jersey boasts a high quality, 12mm thick shiplap tongue and groove construction. On shiplap tongue and groove sheds, the individual boards close together tightly. This gives the building great strength and the interior fantastic protection from the elements by encouraging water run off.

The Jersey gets extra strength and durability from its 34mm x 34mm framework, which is sometimes as much as 20% thicker than the framing on similar products from other manufacturers in this price bracket. The Jersey also includes a 12mm tongue and groove floor as standard. This is another quality feature that is seldom found on sheds of this price and ensures you have a shed floor that has an impressive load capacity.

Its roof is made from 8mm oriented strand board, (OSB) a robust material that is weather resistant. Mineral roofing felt is also included to add to the shed’s weather resistance and provide protection against damp and rot.

The shed’s three opening windows are glazed with horticultural glass for a clearer pane and long lasting clarity. This is another selling point of the Jersey as many other sheds that are this affordable will use Perspex or a similar material, which often dulls over time. Plus, the windows have a unique profiled 'lip' that covers the opening in the panel which adds further weather resistance. The windows have two levels of opening and they can be located anywhere on the side elevations of your shed to suit your needs.

Wide opening double doors allow easy access when taking items in and out of the Jersey and they are ledged for additional strength. A padbolt, to which you can attach a padlock, (padlock not supplied) is also included to provide security for valuables stored inside the shed. About the Timber

You will be impressed by Shire's use of natural products and their environmental credentials. A high quality timber shed starts with high quality timber, so it is important to know exactly what timber is being used. The most commonly used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus) as this is widely available for a very cheap price, however all of Shire's garden buildings are constructed using high quality spruce (picea) and is sourced from Scandinavia under strict FSC guidance. Spruce is more durable than pine and provides a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown unlike fast grown British and Eastern Europe's timber, being slow grown timber means a tighter grain, less sap and with far fewer knots. The timber used on Shire's products is therefore a more durable timber that will last much longer than other timbers. Spruce is therefore the timber of choice for companies such as Shire who always look to produce the best garden building.

This shed supplied pre-treated with a base coat to both sides in a golden brown water based industrial product (colour can vary from the picture shown). Shire recommends that you apply a water based top coat. This will protect the timber from weathering on your shed making it last longer and will need to be repeated accordingly in relation to the manufacturer's instructions. Many manufacturers, including Shire, recommend Protek Royal Exterior wood finish, available from elbec in over 50 different colours. This is also a great way to refresh the look of your shed over time or personalise it to your liking.

Delivery Leadtimes
The estimated delivery lead time for this product is identified on the product page above. Lead times are in working days (Monday - Friday) excludes Bank Holidays. These estimated lead times are provided by the manufacturers and are not guaranteed - due to fluctuation in demand - but are provided in good faith and are representative of delivery at that time. Some remote areas will take a little longer.

Booking Delivery
By entering your postal code in the ‘Pick a delivery day. ENTER POSTCODE’ Box above you can select a delivery date. The evening before this delivery date you will be sent a text message (where a mobile has been provided) with an estimated delivery window.  This update can only be provided where a mobile number has been supplied on the billing address section at the time of checkout.

Upon Delivery
Delivery is made by Shire the manufacturer. Delivery of this item is typically made by a 17 ton flat-bed (similar size to a council refuse lorry). Delivery is typically between 7am and 7pm. The delivery drivers are only insured to deliver to kerb side or driveway. We would not risk damaging your property whilst delivering a product. Unfortunately we will not be able to go through your property. Deliveries are hand-balled off by the driver.

We would recommend against arranging for a third party to install the building before it's been delivered and checked that all parts are present, as we cannot be held liable for any third-party costs.

Installation option
If you are choosing the installation option after placing your order you’ll be contacted within 5 working days by Shire the manufacturer either by a text message or automated telephone message (the latter if a mobile number is not supplied). This message will supply you with the name of the website to go on to where you will be required to accept the terms and conditions for assembly. Any delay in accepting these terms and conditions may affect your timescale. Once you have accepted these terms and conditions you will be contacted during the timescale with a date for the delivery/assembly of your order. The installation option will extend your lead time by up to 15-25 working days. This may take longer during seasonal periods. Please be aware that the installation team will require full access to your garden, 18" clearance all around the building and a firm and level base. Shire's installation team will not bring a building through your home as they are not covered by insurance to enter a customer’s home.

Is it possible to position all 3 windows on one side of the shed?

All the panels are interchangeable and can be positioned on any side and in different positions along the shed side walls.

The distance from the internal corner to the hinge is 314mm and the external corner is 348mm.

"Last year I purchased from you a 10ft x 6ft Goodwood Gold Sandringham Summerhouse.

Along with my two son-in-laws we erected it one Sunday and I am totally pleased with the result.

The instructions were quite easy to follow but suggest they are read twice before erecting.

The summerhouse is very well made and is sturdy and looks good in my garden (photo attached). I have since ordered a 13ft x 7ft shed which again is super quality and like the summerhouse proves to be excellent value for money. Also just this week I have also ordered a 4ft x 4ft playhouse for the grandchildren. Your staff are very friendly and helpful when ordering and your delivery man was very polite and helpful too.

I ordered two sheds from Elbec, which came from two separate companies. The prices were the most competitive I found. Delivery was without a problem, quality totally acceptable (these were a bike shed and a workshop) and the instructions simple enough for me to use (never built one shed before...) When complete even my builder was surprised by how well I'd done (OK, my three small children and a teenager helped - but it's not rocket science...) Just ordered several more sheds (big garden) and the customer service was excellent, highlighting a better product for less money.

"A great shed: A great shed but why does they have to be a but on anything well I will tell you it came as told the driver was great and helpful loads of parts not a problem then take a look at the drawing not clever it was a good job there was two of us and one was a joiner my self a engineer it needs to be a simpler way to put it together but overall a great buy and a great shed and a very good company to deal with.

"Good Value for Price Paid: Compared generally with other suppliers on-line, and particularly the DIY chains, Shire sheds from Elbec are about the best. Moreover, Elbec's website give much more information than most others, which gives any buyer confidence.

I paid extra for Top Coat Treatment, and would recommend this option - particularly if the intended site is against a boundary, making access difficult.

The shed's instructions could do with improvement though. Whilst many photos are given, some would be better as diagrams (which is why I knocked a star off). Also, as the floor is tongue and grooved, make sure that the entrance doesn't have the grooves (the tongues have been removed the other end) as this reduces strength. I bought another couple of battens from our local timber yard to place under the door way for even more strength.

Lastly, I departed from the instructions by setting the windows in using clear silicone sealant, not the panel pins provided. Much quicker and neater in my opinion."

"fantastic shed: great shed .loads of room. easy to put .did it all on my own.it would be alot easier with two people.driver was a great guy and helped with stacking the bits .one bit of advice i would give is to take an hour or so to mark up all the pieces prior to building as alot of bits are of simalar size and it will pay in the long run it took me two days to erect but mostly because of bad weather .all in all a great shed and would buy again . many thanks

"A very good choice in sheds/workshops: We were very impressed with all aspects of dealing with Elbec, including calling them for advice, placing the order and discussing delivery updates, which were made regularly. The deliverery of our workshop was on time and well executed, even allowing for a broken tail lift on the wagon which meant the delivery men had to offload the parts one at a time, stacking them carefully.
As I was prepared with a good flat base (ESSENTIAL!!!) We spent a cople of days painting everything again. In retrospect, the pressure treatment would have been a very good option, but hindsight etc...
Putting the unit up was easy. It took a day to erect, and half a day to roof and fit doors /glazing etc.
Would we want any changes? Just a couple. The instruction sheet needs to be on two sheets at a larger scale. The pictures are great, but a bit small. Also, I would rather have paid a few pounds more to have a better quality hasp and bolts.
Otherwise it was a very good experience."
